In the first major casting for Season 2, Betty Gilpin (G.L.O.W., Death By Lightning) has joined the Sterlin Harjo-created FX series The Lowdown, starring opposite series lead Ethan Hawke. She will play the character of Ginger, we hear.
The first season of The Lowdown follows the gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee Raybon (Hawke), a self-proclaimed Tulsa “truthstorian” whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble. While Lee’s no idealist, he’s fiercely committed to exposing corruption and unearthing the city’s hidden rot, even when it puts him at risk.
The acclaimed Western-noir drama was renewed for a second season in January, with production set to take place in Tulsa, OK, this spring. The series’s first season was recognized by the AFI Awards as one of the 10 most outstanding TV programs of 2025 and is among the year’s most acclaimed series.
Gilpin is a three-time Emmy nominee for her breakout performance in Netflix’s hit series GLOW. Notable TV credits also include Netflix’s limited series American Primeval; Starz’s Three Women; the lead role in Damon Lindelof’s Peacock series Mrs. Davis, for which she earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination; and Universal Television’s Gaslit. She can currently be seen in the Netflix limited series Death By Lightning, from executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, as well as in Cooper Raiff’s Mubi series Hal & Harper.
Up next, she will be seen in Ron Howard’s upcoming feature Alone at Dawn for Amazon MGM as well as Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning. Additional roles include in Apple’s upcoming series Widows Bay and Ol Parker’s romantic comedy Office Romance for Netflix set to release next year.
Gilpin is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
